Hey There! Enough resting time! Ha ha ha Come on closer … So we have
already checked about the color hue and tone and we are starting to get an idea
about where should we head when picking up colors to wear. However colors
aren’t that simple to just pick up for there’s another property of color quite
important to consider: Chroma.
Chroma is the level of purity of a color; pure colors are
those who have the less mixing possible on them and the purity goes down as the
mix goes up. So the most pure colors will be Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple,
White and Black because they are the most basic ones. However the colors:
Copper, Sand, Salmon, Eggshell, Ivory and Champagne aren’t pure colors, because
in order to obtained them, a big amount of colors had to be mixed.
Those pure colors will be known as clear colors because
since they are lowly mixed, the color is quite bright and intense within them.
On the other hand those mixed colors will be known as the soft colors because
with all the mix they have lost impact which makes them mute and a little dirty
looking.
Clear colors are all those
intense, pure and bright colors; they have the ability of being eye-catchers,
they pop out and help make things look closer or bigger, also clear colors are
very showy or flamboyant which will allow you to be the center of attention.
Soft colors are those gentle,
mixed and muted colors; they have the ability of staying low and help shade and
refine irregularities, they also help to reduce the appearance of things
because of being so muted, soft colors will help get a very discreet look and help
you pass through unnoticed.
As it happened with the two
previous properties, Chroma can also be noticed into people in eye color, hair
color and skin color.
Eyes that are clear will usually
have bright intense color such as blue, green, black or hazel. Clear eyes have
a black circle framing the iris and the presence of veins within the iris and
the sclera are practically unnoticed.
Soft eyes will usually have non
intense color such as brown, dark brown, gray and a mix of colors within the
eye. Also soft eyes lack the black circle that frames the iris and there are
usually some veins in white or yellow inside the iris and some notorious red
ones in the sclera.
Clear hair is the kind of hair that
reflects light and the color within it. For example the golden blonde will
shine in yellow, the platinum white will shine in white, the strawberry redheaded
will shine in bright red and the black hair will shine in dark blue or reflect
in black. Also those four: Golden blonde, black, strawberry red and white
platinum are the only clear hair colors.
Soft hair is noticeable because it
has a mix of colors within itself brown
is a color that happens when others mix, that’s why some brunets shine in
yellow under the sun, others shine in red but the brunet hair is a mix of
several colors. Another hair that has a mix is when it gets grey-hairs in any
type of hair, because the grizzly is a mix of the natural color plus the grey
hairs and that mutes the shine of any clear color unless it turns entirely
white platinum.

Once we’ve realized the
differences within the three properties of color and we’ve established to which
one of the two options we belong it’s time to realize which one is our color classification
and to make this classification we use the expert knowledge of Carole Jackson.
She separated the colors into the four seasons and set extremely accurate color
palettes to help us guide ourselves into building our own masks on the best
possible way, so next time we’ll set our flag up and wide to soar hand to hand
with Carole Jackson, until then, have a lovely time.
